Hanna Hoyne (MA 2004; PhD 2009) is a visual artist and researcher working in public space design as a sculptor, muralist, mentor and curator, living and working on Ngunnawal /Nambri Country in Canberra Australia.

Her public sculptures include Cosmophones (2022) in Ruth Park Playspace Coombs Canberra; Crying Dinghy, A Spirit Recharge Vessel (2018) at Lake Burley Griffin’s edge, Henry Rolland Park Parliamentary Triangle, Canberra; and Soul Mine (Moonvessel & Horn) 2020, in Linear Park Kingsgrove, Sydney.

 

In 2021 Hanna received the inaugural Arts ACT Recovery & Resilience Residency, as a visiting artist & curator with the Environment Planning & Sustainable Design Directorate and the Suburban Land Agency of the ACT Government. Her focus is on collaborations with landscape architects, cultural agencies and developers, towards more sustainable and imaginative living spaces for our cities. She is also currently writing a monograph on the Australian educator & performance artist John Reid as the founder of the Environment Studio at the Australian National University’s School of Art & Design, and the legacy of his multi-award winning Field Studies methodologies nationally and internationally.  Publication forthcoming during 2024.
